Where to start planning attic lighting?
From light sources! Their number is conditioned by the amount of natural light entering the interior. If the windows are small or there are relatively few of them, the more lamps will be needed to adequately illuminate the room.
Let's move on to the main lighting. Where to mount them? If the room is not too low, place them on a level ceiling or where the slopes meet. Hanging lamps in low attics are usually not a good solution. They can hang too low over the heads, additionally optically reducing the space. Then spotlights, spots, busducts, plafonds or ceiling lamps without overhangs will be better.
Supplementary lighting gives us more room for maneuver. Sconces, floor lamps and table lamps will both complement the arrangement and illuminate the interior.
What to remember when choosing lighting for rooms with slants?
When planning attic lighting, as with any other space, consider the purpose of the room. You will illuminate the bedroom differently, where the light should create a relaxing mood, and differently the office or place of concentration or work. Also remember that warm light makes the interior seem smaller and more cozy, while cold light - enlarges the space.
A good choice for apartments with slants are wall lamps that save space. It is important to always mount them on vertical walls. If you want the room to seem taller, choose a lamp with a lampshade open upwards. The rays falling on the ceiling will make the room optically higher. Similarly, high-hanging sconces will optically "distant" the ceiling. With low slants, avoid large and decorated hanging lamps, as they will overwhelm the interior.
What lamps to choose in the arrangement of the attic?
In the living room, spotlights on the Roll or Spark strip (KASPA) will work well as the central light source. They take up little space and give a similar amount of light as lighting with several overhangs.
A more decorative proposition are lamps such as KOP D and KUUL B luminaires by UMMO or Astra 4 or Astra 6 by the Polish manufacturer KASPA. In slightly higher rooms, we recommend slender hanging luminaires with Concrete Line from Loftlight and Valo from Thoro or spider lamps, e.g. Loft Sfarer, Loft Metal Line (Kolorowe Kable). For fans of functional solutions, we recommend the Filè system from the Italian manufacturer Creative-Cables, which will meet even the most demanding interiors.
Let's move on to supplementary lighting. When choosing a wall lamp, consider those with several light sources, e.g. Frame and Cumulus (KASPA) or Koban E, KOP B and Diplo A (UMMO). The floor lamp in the interior with slants should not be too high so as not to disturb the scale. Luminaires with an arched arm, such as Sierra, Tatra (Kandela), Clyde (Nordlux), Larry, Modena, Twin or Chester (Markslojd), deserve attention.
The bedroom does not need as much light as other rooms. Therefore, in the night zone, the main luminaire can have one light source. A universal solution - even for low attics - are the Space and Disc plafonds (KASPA) and the ceiling variant from the Asteria collection (Umage). In the case of the selection of wall lamps, the most functional will be those with a movable arm, e.g. wall variants of the Arigato and Baluna models (Grupa Products) or Move (Kaspa) or more budget proposals - Coco, Valencia, Buddy and Riggs from Markslojd. Thanks to them, you can easily illuminate the place that currently requires it. For the bedside table, choose lamps with a lampshade that diffuses the light softly, e.g. Sawa, Rea, Lora and Feria (Kaspa).
In the bathroom, the most practical solution will be Borra A (UMMO) plafonds, as well as ceiling luminaires, such as Lumos (KASPA). Lighting, of course, should be supplemented with sconces with an increased IP44 tightness class. Luminaires with an elongated S14 bulb look great next to the mirror. Moisture-resistant lighting can be found, e.g. in the offer of the UMMO, Creative-Cables, Zangra, Kandela and Nordlux brands.
For the kitchen, we recommend modern lamps from the Pilar (KASPA) or Pinne (Thoro) collections, or more decorative brass lamps with a glass shade from the Zangra brand. Wall lamps with a single light source, such as Loft Metal Wall (Kolorowe Kable), Vienna (Kandela), Fyllo (UMMO) or Fredrikshamn (Markslojd), will suffice in this room.
There is no shortage of light in the office! Lamps with several reflectors, which appear in the Torino, Ciro or Alton (Markslojd) collections, take up little space and in return guarantee a brightened interior. Put an elegant table luminaire on the desk, e.g. Sakosi and Kuul ST (UMMO) or Columbus or Baron (Kandela). If you like tripod lamps, check out Young Deco and Kandela table lamps.
