Description
Eva's collection of retro enamelware
Feeling nostalgic? Then Eva's collection of retro enamelware is for you!
Step back into your grandmother's day with our enamel products, available in several colours.
What exactly is enamel?
Enamel is a protective layer of fused glass applied to metal objects. It is smooth, hard, highly hygienic, non-flammable and durable, with excellent colour retention.
As enamelling is done by hand rather than by machine, the coating may be applied in varying thicknesses to the unfinished casting, resulting in slight surface irregularities. Small black spots or pores and uneven edges may be visible. These are part of the characteristic appearance of enamelware and do not affect its protection against corrosion. Enamel products come in various colours, and slight colour variations may occur within a batch. Since production is largely manual, these minor variations cannot be ruled out. Why do we all love enamel so much? It is simple: this material is incredibly durable, easy to clean and reminds us of time spent at our grandmother's home!
What you need to know when buying enamelware
* Suitable for conventional ovens and gas or electric hobs.
* Enamelware is not suitable for microwave ovens because it contains metal.
* Enamelware can be used over an open flame.
* To extend the life of enamelware, hand washing is best, even when it is dishwasher safe. Opinions differ on this. Think of glassware in a dishwasher: with suitable detergents, glass stays clear and beautiful for years; otherwise, it can become dull and develop white spots. The same applies to enamel tableware. Hand washing is therefore the safest option. Dishwasher use is possible with suitable cleaning products and rinse aid.
Is enamelware environmentally friendly?
* Enamel is a good alternative to plastic.
* Enamelware is very strong, remains glossy and retains its colour. If dropped or knocked, the coating may chip, but the item will not shatter.
* No chemicals are used in production.
* It does not alter the taste of food or drinks.
* Enamelware can last for thousands of years.
